Your hosts & DJ Marinella Pucci ‘Tangosa’

Italy

Marinella’s passion for tango has brought her to many tango events as dancer and dj. It was a natural step for her to wear the cap as a Marathon organizer of Farol tango Marathon. She organized dance events for more than 15 years along with managing her dancing school in the city of her origin. Her professional background of project controller provide her further tools  to accomplish a new goal: A welcoming and fulfilling tango experience for all the participants of Farol tango Marathon.

Marinella is multifaceted artist who manages to combine various expressive forms in her path, always remaining faithful to the idea of an art that is a witness to the spirit of its time.
When she is musicalizing, she manages to give her sensitivity as an artist, with the same force as when she paint, make choreographies, or dances.
Dancing tango is not simply referring to steps and figures but to feeling – is a wonderful communion that has to do with something deep, essential, that can occur with a leader and a follower in tune with a music and a lyrics. As a tango dj she wishes to contribute to this magic communication proposing the suitable tanda selection.

Age Akkerman

Age Akkerman

The Netherlands

As a passionate pianist, dancing tango inevitably led me to dive deep into tango music. I will lead you through the whole spectrum of emotions with a reliable stream of tangos.
To keep everybody dance, variation is key: Rhythmical and lyrical, well and lesser know, various tango styles.
To let the music shine and touch you deeper, I use the highest quality audio and I retune tangos to their original tempo. I display and announce my tanda-info on the wall. I am a regular DJ at international tango events and a resident DJ at various milongas in the Netherlands.

Yerpun

Yerpun

Chile

As a child Yerpun used to play in the garden while his grandfather was listening to tango music. After many years of oblivion, in 2007 he visited the milongas of Buenos Aires and fell in love with the music they played. He learned how to listen, and later he started to express the music with his whole body when he became a dancer. He has been DJing at milongas porteñas, tango marathons, festivals and milongas worldwide for 18 years.

He listens to tango with the ear of a musician and feels the music with the heart of a milonguero. With the knowledge of the feeling that each orchestra produces, he weaves an evening rich of ambients , which fluently passes by at the exact moment.

His DJ credo:
To listen to the flow of the crowd.
To know the development of the tango music played specially in milongas porteñas where the tango experts have danced, and respect that selection of music. Also, give the chance to new music that has the quality to melt hearts.

As Yerpun says: “It is all about the right song at the right moment. I am a fisherman. With a song I fish people and pull them to the dance floor.”

Driven by an authentic passion for tango and photography, in 2013 I started combining these two in photographing the most evocative aspects and expressions arising from the embrace in tango in the local milongas.
I made numerous photographic testimonies of tango events, festivals and encuentros of tangueros in Sicily and other parts of southern Italy.
